Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day in April with a booth at the Earth Day Festival at Topsail Preserve. We used our new display board to stage a game of identifying native flora and fauna, giving native plants as prizes to winners and not so winners.
Nancy James Scholarship
Each year SWCC gives a scholarship to a local school to assist in a nature based educational activity.
For 2009 that scholarship was given to Bay Elementary to purchase supplies for the "Grasses In Classes" program.
In a previous year, GPS units were donated to South Walton High School for use in mapping coastal dune lakes.
Wetlands Workforce
SWCC received a $10,000 grant to partner with Walton County for a facilitator on the Wetlands Workforce task group.
